Why is the house being renovated?

Your home has housed many people over the years. They've cooked meals, taken warm showers, and flushed the toilet thousands of times. Pipes and plumbing wear out. After 50–60 years, they must be replaced to prevent water damage. That's why we sometimes renovate the whole house: both apartments and shared spaces, like stairwells, laundry rooms, basements, and storage. We do this to keep your home working well for many more years.

Here's how it works

1. What needs to be renovated?
   First, we check what the building needs. We inspect it together with experts. We look at what can be reused or kept, and what needs to be replaced.
   
   
2. Welcome to the information meeting
   We start with an information meeting where you’ll learn more and ask questions.
   
   
3. Join the consultation group
   A group is formed at the meeting to give feedback on the renovation plans. They collect input from other tenants and suggest interior design options. Once the group is done, you’ll get a plan that shows what’s included in the work.
   
   
4. Time to approve the renovation
   All tenants must approve the changes before the work can go ahead.
   
   
5. Wait for renovation to begin
   Familjebostäder plans the renovation and chooses a company for the job. It might take some time before work starts.
   
   
6. Move to a temporary apartment
   As your home is fully renovated, you’ll move to a temporary flat. We help you with the move. Our movers pack and move your things.
   
   
7. Choose interiors for your home
   You can choose from different design packages for your new apartment. Pick wall colors or wallpaper, and styles for kitchen and bathroom.
   
   
8. Welcome back to your renovated home
   Now it’s time to move back again. Of course, we’ll help you move. We hope you’ll enjoy your new home!
